Entrepreneurs & Small Business
Preserving, attracting, and promoting business growth
Tahlequah is a region rich in assets and opportunity with a strong history of entrepreneurship and a supportive community willing to further embrace a growing culture of small business and startups.
The Tahlequah Regional Development Authority has multiple avenues with which we support small businesses and entrepreneurs. We host an annual Small Business Summit to provide resources and educational opportunities to business owners and operators.
We partner with other like minded organizations to host learning opportunities about marketing, customer acquisition, and finance/accounting. Our newest opportunity is Startup Bootcamp, a program aimed at helping new businesses or entrepreneurs with an idea get their business up and running and on the path to success.
Entrepreneur Ecosystem Study
Startup Junkie (“Consultant”), under the directive of the Tahlequah Regional Development Authority (“TRDA”) has completed an entrepreneurship ecosystem environmental study in Tahlequah and the surrounding area, specifically encompassing Cherokee county.
Improving Quality of Life

The key result of our study is a strong recommendation to develop this region as an entrepreneurial ecosystem as a critical means to strategically support the city’s initiatives of community engagement, economic development, and improved quality of life for Tahlequah residents.
The consultant has conducted a complete environmental scan, and this report includes key findings as well as a long-term projection of the business development and entrepreneurship opportunities for the region.
