Information about the most important city's utilities
Electricity
Tahlequah Public Works Authority (TPWA) has beeen providing power to the community of Tahlequah since 1902. They work closely with the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) who sells the electricity to TPWA for the community.
Water
TPWA also provides water service to the community. Water is pulled from the Illinois River for consumption. TPWA has won awards for their water treatment like “Best Tasting Water”.
Wastewater
Another service provided and billed by TPWA to Tahlequah and the surrounding area, including the Tahlequah Business and Technology Park.
Natural Gas
Natural gas services in Tahlequah are provided by Northeast Oklahoma Public Facilities Authority (NOPFA). NOPFA is a public trust created over 60 years ago to bring the area reliable natural gas services.
Solid Waste
Solid Waste Services are provided by the City of Tahlequah. However, they are billed through the TPWA billing cycle with the other utilities provided by them. They provide residential and commercial curbside pickup as well as regular and roll-off dumpster services.
Fiber
Tahlequah and the Tahlequah Business and Technology Park have up to 5 Fiber providers in the area: Lake Region Telecommunications, Consolidated Communications, Cox Communications, AT&T, and Tahlequah Cable.
